Lovely campsite, very rural, fantastic views, lovely walking trails, easy access to the fells and peaks, no phone or TV signal which I liked, great place for relaxation, very quiet. I will definitely be back again.
Brilliant facilities, knowledgeable and friendly staff. heated floor in the shower block which is excellent.. Pitch black and lovely and quiet after dusk. Great spot to start to explore Great Langdale. The ODG across the road offers a warm welcome and hot food all day. Bus stop outside campsite only £2 into ambleside and beyond. Will be back ! X
I stayed here for three nights and unfortunately storm agnes arrived on the second day, resulting in me getting absolutely drenched while out on a walk. The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful, when I got back to the site they asked if I was alright, made me a free coffee, and allowed me to upgrade to one of the pods for £20. They were also really helpful in recommending walks and things to do nearby. The facilities were great, the toilets and shower areas were clean and warm, the drying room was actually effective because the room was heated, and the shop had most things you could need. They also do cheap breakfasts and tea & coffee in the morning which was really useful. The location is great, there’s a bus stop right outside and there’s two pubs 15 min walk away. Overall had a great time, the only bad thing was the weather!
Great campsite to stay at with superb walking straight from the site. The showers and toilet blocks are excellent (heated floors) and the pitches for campervans nicely spread around the site with good fields for the campers. One of the blocks even has a climbing "wall" on its side to practise traversing on.
The staff were really helpful (thanks for the loan of the spanner!) and friendly. The site has a small shop with the essentials as well.
Very importantly it is 5 minutes walk to the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and Climbers bar - so fantastic for pub grub, a fire and real beer. Its also only about 15 minutes walk to the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and the Sticklebarn - now called Lanty Slee’s - both of which do food and have real beer etc. The site does state no motorhomes/vans over 6m - or to call first - the road up to Langdales is quite narrow in places. Note there is no drive over grey water disposal but there is chemical waste disposal.
There is also an excellent bus service.
All in all a great site.
Lovely site. The wash facilities are probably the best I've seen. Great position for walks. Nicely stocked shop. The only downside we had was the hard standing van pitch, which was a bit like being in a car park (207 I think)
Great campsite in a stunning location. The staff were extremely helpful when I had a very strange problem with my car refusing to unlock when we got back from a bike ride. All sorted in the end. The facilities are as good as you could wish for and there are 3 pubs within walking distance and more a few miles down the road. The site can get a bit soggy during periods of really heavy rain, so keep an eye on the forecast (which is shown on the front door of reception every morning) and choose your pitch accordingly. There is zero mobile signal in the area and no WiFi. That's normally quite refreshing, although with our car problem it made things a bit awkward. However, it turns out they now have good WiFi at the Old Dungeon Ghyll.
Lovely setting. A great pub just a 10 minute walk a long country lanes. Facilities, are great. Toilets and showers really clean and lots of choice. Onsite shop.
Great views.
We had a fantastic time over the bank holiday weekend! The staff were friendly and helpful when I told them it was our first time at the campsite.
The shower and toilet rooms look like they've recently been updated, they're spacious, waters very warm and there's heated flooring.
The shop has all the usual stuff you might forget which is useful (although it's quite pricey!)
We stayed on the family field with our two boys (4 and 6), all the other families were really friendly and all the kids got on well with each other.
It was pricier
